The case is a perfect size for a take-down rifle and in that perspective it is excellent. The foam also serves to provide adequate protection for the rifle. On the downside the case certainly doesn't appear to be dust proof and won't offer the strongest protection against accidents but it is probably reasonable in these respects in terms of the price point. However, the showstopper for this case in terms of the low rating is that it provides no security for the rifle. Even with two padlocks placed tightly at the two appropriate points on the case's handle, it is so easy to prise the top and bottom case ends apart and remove the rifle, with hardly any effort
